webpage http://www.pcusa.org/missionconnections/profiles/ferrism.htm Mary Ferris is currently serving her first term as a mission co-worker for PC(USA) in Tulcea, Romania, in partnership with New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned Children (NOROC). Mary assists the director and staff of NOROC with three different programs: (1) Big-Hearted Grannies, which employs retired persons to give individual attention to three or four infants or toddlers on a daily basis; (2) Big-Hearted Teachers, which depends on retired teachers and professors to tutor students; and (3) Big-Hearted Friends, which focuses on developing life-skills training and transitional employment and housing for older children, who are required to leave the orphanages at age 18. Mary’s term began in June 2001 and ends in September 2004.

Compañeros en Misión, a joint ministry of Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
and the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico. One of seven missions of
of Presbyterian Border Ministry, Compañeros en Misión works with five
churches in the state of Sonora, immediately south of Arizona. The
mission is involved in evangelism and the development of self-sustaining
churches, and facilitates cross-cultural learning experiences with a
goal of fostering understanding and spiritual growth on both sides of
the border. Working with their Mexican partner, the Thomases coordinate
short-term mission trips for visiting church groups from the U.S.,
assisting with logistics and providing educational opportunities for
participants.
